Hekser's sophomore album, Apocalypticism, is a blasphemous collection of impious Black Metal pieces, sacrilegious Death Metal riffs, diabolic soundscapes, and profane lyrics. Through the course of ten songs, the apocalyptic and often mythical overtones that permeate the lyrical narrative serve to amplify the sardonic and anti-religious intent of the compositions. The screeching words infused with prophetic symbolism and scripture rhetoric have the sole intention of exposing the absurdities of religion, faith, and the belief that the Day of Judgment is imminent. Furthermore, the use of satanic symbolism not only contributes to the atmosphere of the record, but serves as an analogy to fathom the nature of both reason and free will, drawing a parallel between Satan and the human mind. As for the music, the melodic and aggressive rhythmic passages constantly evolve into new sonic motifs, providing a dynamic experience throughout the record.
Born and raised amidst the radical Christian ideas of an overly religious family, DRRG exploits the flaws of theological logic and prophetical belief to create an album that provides all the musical elements to present the perfect soundtrack to an imaginary apocalyptic vision.
